Celebrating our 20th Anniversary

December 14th, 2020

October 2000 to October 2020 marks the celebration of Jay Brokers' 20th anniversary.

From our humble beginnings in flipping Palm Pilots to our current offerings, our pledge still remains the same. At Jay Brokers we pledge to always pay our customers the agreed upon amount for the agreed upon item. Rain or shine, we always send payments to our customers on the next business day after receipt.

Palm Pilot

It all started about 20 years ago, right after the turn of the century with the rising popularity of Palm Pilots. Do you remember those? They were sometimes nicknamed "PDA's" or "Personal Digital Assistants." They are a remnant of our modern-day smartphones. They replaced the Rolodex, personal agenda, and desk calendar. Most of them were monochrome LCD screens with small stylus-like pens that you could tap around on the screen or write with handwriting using a special alphabet known as "Graffiti." It was basically the traditional English alphabet, but with simplified strokes so that all the letters could be done with a single stroke without lifting the stylus pen. They were offline devices that you would sync up once or twice a day and then there would be a mirror image of the data on your desktop or laptop computer which was probably running Windows 95 or Windows 98 at the time.

Graffiti

Our founder, Justin, originally started flipping Palm Pilots as a hobby on the side. Most of his customers were online customers, though some were also personal friends and acquaintances. As the Internet grew and ecommerce exploded online, Justin developed a process for buying and selling the devices that eventually evolved into the current small business today, where we now buy and sell just about any item over $100 in value that's easy to ship. Our goal is to be a one-stop shop for all our customers as an online risk-free secondhand marketplace.

As we reflect on the last 20 years we want to take this time to thank all our customers from 2000 to 2020 for trusting us with your business. That's not something we take for granted here. Without you, our customer, we would not have been able to sustain the last 20 years, nor could we continue to grow and provide jobs and opportunities as a small business in our community. As a family business our core values are honesty, fairness and integrity; it is our desire to model those values in every aspect of our business. So, from our family to yours thank you for trusting us with your business over the last 20 years!
